MAMMA (Susanne und Heide Wagner)

From 28.03.2025 at 7 pm, the installation MAMMA by Susanne Wagner will transform the Rathausgalerie into a garden of paradise. Over 700 fruits, cast in plaster and painted, fill the fountain like a giant fruit bowl and spill out into the room. MAMMA, among other things the medical term for the female breast, opens up a wide range of associations as the title of the exhibition. It is mother and daughter who are exhibiting together here: Heide Wagner (born 1944) and Susanne Wagner (born 1977), two sculptors from two generations.

Heide Wagner is showing sculptures from the last three decades, figurative works made of plaster that are modeled on people and animals. Susanne Wagner has created new works for the exhibition which, in their materiality and fragility, relate to the works of her mother and deal with the role of women, the female body and its attributions with great independence.

At the opening of the exhibition on March 28, 2025, 7 p.m., a member representing the Lord Mayor of the City of Munich and Nina Oswald, Head of the Visual Arts Team in the Department of Culture, will speak. The event will be translated into German sign language.

The exhibition will be accompanied by events and educational programs in German and English.
