Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) and Sky (Dominic Cooper) want to get married, but first the bride wants to finally meet her father. She reads the old diaries of her mother Donna (Meryl Streep), who runs a small hotel on the Greek island of Kalokairi. Sophie discovers three potential sires: the businessman Sam Carmichael (Pierce Brosnan), the banker Harry Bright (Colin Firth) and the adventurer Bill Anderson (Stellan Skarsgard). In order to find out which one of these seasoned men is really her father, Sophie simply invites them all to her special day. All sorts of amusing mix-ups ensue and feelings that were thought to have been extinguished long ago are rekindled...
