On October 14, 2015, the former Kassel district president Walter Lübcke spoke
spoke at an event in Lohfelden. The politician provided information about a refugee home that was due to open shortly. With his words, Lübcke not only expressed his deep conviction, but also formulated society's basic understanding of the rule of law and democracy. While a large part of the audience listened attentively, a group of right-wing extremists attempted to disrupt the event and provoke Lübcke. His response caused a spiral of hatred in right-wing forums. Four years later, Walter Lübcke is dead. Shot dead on his terrace at home. The perpetrator, Stephan Ernst, was present at the event in Lohfelden.

The Westfälisches Landestheater is staging a production about the development of right-wing extremist movements in Germany. It focuses on the threat to our democracy, which is reflected, among other things, in the situation of politicians who are exposed to the worst insults and threats.
