WHAT IS A ONE-DAY CHOIR?

A One-Day Choir is an opportunity to be part of a choir for a single day - celebrating singing and the unifying power of harmony. It is an opportunity to build community, make new friends and unite our powerful, diverse voices into one.

All are welcome. no previous experience. no concert. no perfection.

Just sing together in a room with people in harmony and create something greater!

Whether you have been singing in vocal ensembles for many years or this is your first time in a group, you are welcome here. All levels of experience are valuable and will be considered.

OUR SONG THIS TIME

This time we're focusing on the powerful song by Natasha Bedingfield, which has become an anthem for self-development and new beginnings.

"Unwritten" is about courageously shaping your life, going your own way and finding your own voice - unfiltered, genuine and full of hope.
A song that inspires us not to fear the blank page in front of us, but to fill it with passion.

Let's create this space together - with sound, energy and cohesion.

REHEARSE THE SONG

Sheet music and vocal recordings for the individual parts will be available as learning material before the event. If you have the time and inclination, please take a look and listen to the voices and the original so that we can work musically on the day. It's not at all necessary to know everything by heart (and you definitely don't have to memorize the song!), but the more confident we are with our parts, the more fun we can have together!

LED AND GUIDED BY:

This session will be led by our choir directors Sofia Stark and Martin Lorenz !

Sofia Stark (she/her) is a singer, music teacher, choir director and singer/songwriter from Mannheim. Since her studies at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg and the "Popkurs" at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, she has been working as a freelance event singer in various formations and is also active as a vocal coach and choir director.
In her work, she attaches great importance to sound vocal training, combined with musical expression and individual support. Since 2024, she has regularly offered "Pop Up" choir events in Mannheim to bring together people who like to sing according to the motto: "One evening - One song - Many voices". She is very happy to lead One-Day Choir events for the One-Day Choir Collective in summer and fall.

Martin Lorenz (he/him) is a singer, music teacher, vocal arranger and singer/songwriter from Leipzig (DE). He studied jazz singing and vocal pedagogy at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig and currently works as a choral conductor (pop/jazz) at the Hochschule für Musik in Weimar and as a freelance vocal teacher for popular styles. He is currently touring Germany and beyond with his award-winning vocal group "Quintense".
Martin founded the One-Day Choir Collective as a collaborative community of like-minded musicians with a desire to create authentic, connective and accessible spaces for communal singing and musical expression.

CANCELLATION POLICY

We want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to attend this gathering - and as places are limited, every single one is valuable!
If you sign up but can't make it, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance so we can reallocate the space. Tickets are non-transferable as we need the proceeds to rent the space and pay our wonderful leaders.

The One-Day Choir Collective is a creative community across Germany. Our mission is to create connective, playful and accessible spaces for making music together - spaces for expression, growth, freedom and letting go through music. Spaces where we explore the healing potential of collective music and improvisation. Spaces where people can express themselves freely - without judgment or expectation - and where we can meet other people as our authentic selves and make new friends.

Everyone is welcome in this community.

We celebrate people of all ages, backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, religions, physical abilities, social backgrounds, languages and musical levels. All we ask of you is an open mind, a desire to connect - and a willingness to leave any kind of (self-)judgment at the door.

We believe that making music - together with others - is a fundamental human practice. This project creates space for exactly that - especially at a time when such opportunities have become rare.

The One-Day Choir Collective wants to break down the separation between audience and artists and create experiences where we are all part of the musical process. We want to provide a network and platform for people to rediscover themselves musically, connect with each other and unleash their creativity through play and collaboration.
