Mansur Brown is the definition of a prodigy. A classically trained guitarist, curator and multidisciplinary artist whose music strikes a balance between virtuosic precision and emotional expression. He has played in the alternative jazz band TriForce, alongside Yussef Dayes and Kamaal Williams, and is undoubtedly one of the biggest names on the London scene.
Mansur Brown combines his flamenco-influenced guitar playing with a production aesthetic influenced by the rhythm of early 00s Timbaland, the swing of Afrobeat and the melancholic sound design of Burial. This sounds wonderful on the albums and is absolutely stunning live, resulting in sound journeys between instrumental hip-hop, jazz and fusion, trap and ambient, broken up by anthemic improvisations. Mansur Brown achieves what many try to do: To create music that sounds immediate and is as real as life when it doesn't feel observed.
"I like my music to have a club feel at its core, but to keep hold of that sense of musicality," he explains. "Having that sense of movement, but with guitar melodies, keyboards and strings over the top - that's always been a dream of mine".
