As a duo, Mantar manage to sound far heavier than many a five-piece band. Despite their rather simple instrumentation with just guitar and drums, but no bass guitar, they have an incredibly fat sound that is set on destruction. Forget everything you know about rock'n roll, this one will hurt and forcefully expand your synapses! Whipping beats and deep black melodies meet feedback orgies and doom chaos, always accompanied by a touch of early Melvins, Motörhead or Darkthrone. The whole thing is hard to pigeonhole. Call it what you want, but please don't call it sludge!
"Post Apocalyptic Depression", their highly acclaimed fifth longplayer, was released in February 2025, the title of which already indicates the direction in which they are heading and entered the German album charts at number 6 in the week of its release. Recorded entirely live in the Black Bear Studio in Gainsville/Florida under the direction of Ryan Williams, Hanno Klänhardt and Erinç Sakarya show their best side on it, because "live and direct" has always been their motto in life. Their concerts are tantamount to an excess of pure energy, which is poured from the stage onto the audience in large buckets, regardless of losses and sometimes even their own equipment. Having already shaken the foundations of the scheune in 2018, we are delighted to be able to present Mantar live in the city once again!
