A festival for acoustic resistance, queer and FLINTA* empowerment and transnational connectedness

The Goethe-Institut in Exile and the Berlin School of Sound present the three-day music festival Mapping Sounds in Exile at Kunsthaus ACUD Berlin. Artists from Ukraine, Belarus, Syria, Algeria/Germany, Iran/Denmark and Lebanon, among others, invite you to concerts, performances, film screenings and listening sessions. The festival uses electronic composition, sound art, club and DJ culture, performance and cinematic storytelling to explore various themes such as memory, resistance, transformation and belonging through sound.
Mapping Sounds in Exile focuses on listening as a political and unifying practice. For many participating artists, exile and displacement are lived experiences - and sound becomes a powerful tool to process, remember, resist and reconnect.

The festival's sonic spectrum ranges from avant-pop, synth-pop, electro-acoustic textures, immersive field recordings, ambient, industrial, noir jazz to folkloric elements and deep bass. Expect emotionally charged narratives, cinematic atmospheres, intimate listening sessions, raw and ritualistic performances and a unique mix of DIY and vinyl-only DJing.
