Rare opportunity: The two famous singer-songwriters Marei Debertin and Janne Surma will be playing together this evening at the BalkonBeatsBAR.
Marei found her way to Hanover via Frankfurt and Leipzig. She accompanies herself on the guitar for her songs, which are now in German (there have also been English songs). She calls her songs about tender bitter hearts in jacket pockets and people in their knight's armor down-to-earth and unagitated. Her new EP "Stück vom Glück" has just been released - we love it.
Janne Surma comes from Hamburg and ended up in Hanover to study music. Her German-language songs tempt you to lose yourself in the new and find yourself in the familiar. She sings about longings, fears and changes with an unagitated, natural seriousness. "And Dad once said, write everything down ..." is the title of Janne's "Good Night Song". Good tip, otherwise Janne's music might not exist today.
