Maria de Val's special view of the world became her own early on: as a Ladin in South Tyrol, a South Tyrolean in Italy, an Italian in Germany and, last but not least, as a drummer in the world of music. Maria grew up in the Ladin Alps and is at home on many instruments. She plays drums, guitars, bass, keys, sequencer, theremin and marimba. She demonstrates this on big stages as a multi-instrumentalist with Hubert von Goisern and on her debut album "Mëda Medusa". Or with her bands: Ganes, ME + MARIE and Principess.
As a theater composer, she playfully oscillates between the musical decades of the 70s and 90s. The Woodstock feeling permeates her songs, as does the sampling technique of hip hop and her penchant for synthetic sounds. In addition to de Val's special songwriting and her vocal variance, the view into her special life experience(s) as the middle of seven siblings in the Alps, as a drummer in various rock bands between the stadium stage and the junkie club is perhaps the greatest treasure in her music.
