Marie Diot writes and sings songs with clever, unusual German lyrics and accompanies herself on the piano and synthesizer. Her concerts consist of quirky, funny announcements and songs that tell charming and direct stories about things that happen in life. Some of it is melancholy and some of it is funny, including her hairstyle. Their musical development was influenced by punk rock and the Hamburg School. Or something like that. Generally optimistic, as relaxed as possible, always on the lookout for the right words and the best melody, with the desire to touch someone and otherwise clearly pretty much without a goal.
Everything always works out in the end! The only question is how. But that's okay.
In 2017, Marie Diot released "Pinguin im Tutu - Weiß nicht, ob er Tänzer ist" - clearly her best album to date. To be fair, it's her first album - but that doesn't make it any less good. On it, the singer/songwriter presents herself as musically and thematically versatile, deftly balancing between melancholy and silliness, touching on synth-pop and cabaret and uniting everything with her unique style.
Her concerts have already taken her all over Germany, from Hamburg to Heidelberg. Recently she has been supported live by the fabulous multi-instrumentalist Fabian.
