To move: to move to another apartment, to change residence / to put on another dress, another suit / to roam, to wander around / to surround, 'to cloud'.
A move likes to make things small and manageable, to stow them well, to pack them in a way that protects and supports them / Moving around gets out of hand, covers long distances and never really arrives / Moving plays with what is felt inside and carried outside, what lies on the skin, touches and reshapes sensibilities.
Marie Götze works with traces of industrial production that accumulate in more-than-human bodies and landscapes, touching, contaminating and transforming them. Her installative, performative, conceptual and textile art practice is currently focused on the theme of underground networks.
In it, she combines nourishing, extractive, exploitative or even resistant tendencies that are effective in the structures and relationships of terrestrial coexistence.
