Billy Woodberry traces the life of Angolan-born Mário Pinto de Andrade, one of the greatest African intellectuals who belonged to the generation of African independence. Co-founder of the party that has been governing Angola for 50 years, de Andrade is an almost non-existent memory for the majority of young Angolans. In Mário, Woodberry vividly brings the story of the revolutionaries' anti-colonial struggles to wider audiences, and in doing so captures an important part of Angola's history. (NS)
