Marlene Assmann presents a graphic memoir in which she tells her son Luka about her very dramatic but nevertheless hopeful medical history: When she is pregnant with Luka - six years ago now - she is diagnosed with glioblastoma, a malignant brain tumor. But unlike Wolfgang Herrndorf, a new immunotherapy works for Marlene Assmann. This graphic memoir is about the essence of life, about love, hope and the joy of being allowed to go on living. Marlene Assmann's story is as impressively honestly written as it is drawn.

Marlene Assmann, daughter of the renowned scientist couple Jan and Aleida Assmann, studied film editing at the Konrad Wolf Film Academy in Potsdam and has worked as a freelancer in Berlin, Beirut and Heidelberg on feature films, trailers, documentaries, short films, 2D animations and illustrations. She has also given digital storytelling workshops for young refugees in Berlin. She lives in Berlin with her husband Tony, her son Luka and her dog Paula.
