Maryam Aras: Dinosaurierkind

She is a dinosaur child. The daughter of a man who has experienced so much history that it hardly seems to fit into one lifetime.

Maryam Aras writes the political biography of her father and his generation of activists who fled Iran with tender devotion and yet critical distance. She tells of opposition activists who were always in two places at once, who fought for the democratic future of Iran and still do today. Many of the aging activists made a significant contribution to the overthrow of the Shah's dictatorship in 1979 and today lead a shadowy existence. Their relationship with the German left was characterized by both attraction and repulsion.

Maryam Aras curates and moderates various literary events. She also works as a translator and literary mediator of Persian-language poetry and prose. Dinosaur Child is her first book.

Andrea Schwyzer works in Hanover as a freelance radio journalist and presenter for various ARD stations, including NDR Kultur.
