Work can be fulfillment and necessity, offers give and take, and often generates winners and losers. Who are we, with or without work? Writer Heike Geißler and sociologist Sabine Pfeiffer talk about this.

Heike Geißler, born in Riesa in 1977, is an author and translator. She is also involved in artistic collaborations such as the literary project "Check your habitus" and the collective "George Bele". Most recently, her novels "Saisonarbeit" (Spector Books) and "Die Woche" (Suhrkamp) were published. The latter was nominated for the 2022 Leipzig Book Fair Prize in the fiction category. In her new book "Arbeiten" (Hanser Berlin), she discusses different forms of work, their meaningfulness and the winners and losers of the modern working world.

Sociologist Sabine Pfeiffer has also been focusing on the topics of technology, work and society in her research for many years. After training and working as a toolmaker and studying sociology, she has been teaching at the Nuremberg Campus of Technology (NCT) at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg since 2018.
