Introduction to the new music theater production
Hermann Hesse's novel Der Steppenwolf triggered a wave of success that continues to this day. The story about the brooding intellectual Harry Haller and his lover, the prostitute Hermine, is coming to the stage of the Großes Haus from April 12 - in an opera version that premiered in Würzburg in 2016. Composer Viktor Åslund has translated Hesse's literary work into musical form. The production at the Volkstheater is directed by Vera Nemirova.
In this Sunday matinee, the management team and members of the ensemble will provide insights into the preparations, explain the background to the work, its creation and staging and offer musical samples.
