Mats Gustafsson: Hidros Mute(s)

In the organizer's words:

Swedish multi-instrumentalist Mats Gustafsson, an exceptional artist, will be making a guest appearance at the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart in its anniversary year. He has developed his very own vision of experimental music that moves virtuously between meticulously composed pieces, free jazz and improvisation, rock and noise.

Four musicians, four exhibition spaces - one composition, a unique musical experience: Mats Gustafsson has composed a piece for four saxophones especially for the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart that incorporates and explores its open architecture. The four musicians are spatially separated from each other in the museum, the sounds are recorded simultaneously, mixed live and played in a fifth room. The audience can move freely through the rooms - and everyone will hear a different piece.
