When microtonal composer and jazz pianist Matthew Goodheart and cellist Sue Schlotte improvise together, a deep, differentiated dialog is created: They unfold the entire, immense sound spectrum of cello, piano and Goodheart's sound installations in their Instant Compositions. They dedicate space and time to each sound.

Their collaboration began in 2004 during Sue Schlotte's stay in the USA. They produced the CD "Departures" (www.sueschlotte.bandcamp.com/album/departures) and had numerous performances in the Bay Area and in Germany and Switzerland, including the Klappstuhl Festival in Wuppertal.

In their concerts, they explore the boundaries between new music, experimental and free improvisation. Each concert is unique and a world premiere.

Sue Schlotte is a German cellist, improviser and music teacher. She lives in Darmstadt and is particularly active in the field of free improvisation and is interested in expanding the sound possibilities of the cello. She performs as a soloist and in various formations and works in interdisciplinary collaborations with artists from the fields of dance, painting, performance and literature.

Matthew Goodheart is a composer, improviser, sound artist and educator who has developed an extensive body of work that explores the relationships between performer, instrument and listener. His diverse creations range from large-scale microtonal compositions to open improvisations and immersive sound installations.
