He has been performing on stage since 1989. First as part of an ensemble and for over twenty years as a soloist. During this time, Matthias Brodowy has produced ten solo programs. He presents the quintessence of these in his best-of program: a fast-paced one-man show, a par force ride with loud and quiet tones, bordering between literary cabaret, devoted silliness and lots of music. He takes the audience from the time of psychedelic-apocalyptic 70s wallpaper and the Hanimexmini pocket camera to the digital here and now and thus back to the deepest Middle Ages. Musically, the journey takes us from the North Sea beach via Tierra del Fuego to the revival of the only Mozart opera on the subject of obesity, Don Sarotti, which was long thought to have been lost. With this evening, the "representative for upscale nonsense" lives up to his self-chosen job title.
Matthias Brodowy was awarded the cabaret prize "Das schwarze Schaf" by Hanns Dieter Hüsch in 1999 and the German Cabaret Prize in 2013. Most recently, he received the "Gaul von Niedersachsen" in 2020.
