Maude Trio

Peter Ehwald - sax / Meinrad Kneer - b / Joe Hertenstein - dr

By invitation of festival curator Marie Blobel, Trio MAUDE was formed at the 2024 jazzwerkstatt Festival Peitz, Germany. Berlin native Peter Ehwald is part of the Berlin Jazz scene for a long time and is known for his work with musicians such as Tom Rainey, Robert Lanfermann and Laura Robles. Bassist Meinrad Kneer is a top improviser of the German and Dutch scene, having played with Fred Frith, Axel Dörner and Roscoe Mitchell. Joe Hertenstein migrated to Berlin from New York during the pandemic, having played with Anthony Coleman, Kenny Werner and Chris Potter. Joe and has since left a mark on the berlin scene. The three Berlin based musicians are friends for a long time and have played in many other different settings together, which gives the performance an air of trust, understanding and friendship.
