In the organizer's words:

M*exhibition at the xpon-art gallery

A young group exhibition of contemporary art for mousing

Opening on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 7 pm

Afterwards open daily until May 18, 2025 (except M*Wednesday)

The exhibition M*Exhibition by the media class of the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design Kiel examines the phenomenon of mousiness and its connotations in contemporary culture. Especially among young artists, the term mouse has established itself as a trivializing form of address - a deliberate break with the expectation of professional distance.

It stands to reason that this gentle form of address is an expression of a deeper longing for intimacy, security and a world in which there is still room for gentleness and fragility.

The M* exhibition poses the question: What does it mean to be mousy? The term is not just seen as a fleeting trend, but as a symptom of a collective sentiment. In an increasingly harsh and unstable world, the mousy becomes a symbol of a universal need for closeness, protection and compassion.

The works presented explore this emotional landscape in a variety of ways, inviting the audience to reflect on the meaning of tenderness and vulnerability in times of hardship.

If you have any questions, please contact the students; if you are thirsty, too. We don't offer anything in our rooms that we wouldn't drink ourselves, drinks are available for a donation. Free admission, because everyone should have access to culture. However, you are welcome to make a donation if you would otherwise honor it. We run this space because we think it is important that there are constant and challenging positions between state museums and commercial galleries on the one hand and changing platforms for emerging art on the other - on the one hand to better promote artists, and on the other to create a more vibrant culture for the dialog between art and society. If you would like to support this work, please contact us - or simply recommend us to others.

The narratives in this exhibition were created by the artists.
