Max Baitinger: Birgit & Sibylla. Ein Comicabend zu Arbeit und Poesie

Birgit is a long-standing administrative employee who knows her work and office procedures inside out. When the new supervisor assigns tasks, she sits idly in front of the screen saver and waits. At some point, Birgit packs a box with her belongings and leaves. A snapshot of a character who suddenly steps out of her everyday life.

Sibylla Schwarz was born in Greifswald, in the midst of the turmoil of the Thirty Years' War. She died of dysentery at the age of 17. In this short life, she wrote over a hundred poems of great poetic power, which testify to her astonishing self-confidence as a citizen and woman. For a long time she was one of the best-known poets and then fell into oblivion.

Max Baitinger was born in Penzberg, Upper Bavaria, in 1982. After training as a carpenter, he began drawing comics and studied illustration at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig. He received the Comic Book Prize 2020 for his graphic novel Sibylla.
