The Atacama Desert in northern Chile is home to one of the largest textile waste dumps in the western world. Here, mountains of garbage from discarded clothing are growing at breakneck speed - the result of a never-ending stream of cheap and mass-produced fast fashion. The photographs, drawings and installations by the renowned Chilean artist Máximo Corvalán-Pincheira deal with the devastating effects of the uncontrolled flow of discarded clothing from the Global North to the Global South. They show the contradictions of global borders, which on the one hand restrict people's freedom of movement, but on the other allow the unrestricted flow of goods and waste.
