MAYAS KONTRA - eine Komödie über Mut, Werte & Menschlichkeit

23-year-old Maya has big plans: Newly naturalized, young, motivated and with the party book of a liberal-progressive party in her hand, she wants to make a start in German politics. Unfortunately, no one told her that you don't need ideals there - you need patience, an elbow mentality and rhetorical brilliance. Above all, she lacks the ability to raise her voice freely and without self-doubt, and this seems to trigger Dr. Christian Stahl of all people, a political heavyweight in the opposing party. He becomes abusive towards her, which happens to be filmed and goes viral. The internet becomes a modern pillory for him, and Maya seems to emerge as the winner for the time being. In order to limit the damage, Stahl is forced by his party leadership to become her rhetoric and PR coach, and Maya is suddenly a political figurehead for the wrong people.

Mutual hostility develops into a wonderfully weird relationship: somewhere between mutual provocation, trauma reappraisal and Schopenhauer.

Maya is accompanied by Leonard, also a new citizen, born Swiss with a love of rap and subculture. And her father: he once brought her to safety in a country where he now feels increasingly alienated. Maya learns that it takes more than a microphone and party membership to raise your voice.

In the end, both Maya and Stahl lose their political stage - but not their courage. Together, the former "arch-enemies" start a podcast - probably the most absurd alliance since talk shows have existed.Maya's counter is sometimes wry, sometimes biting, but always profound and touching - and always in search of humanity.
