Romantic love songs in Meiningen - with this program, the members of the MDR Radio Choir also pay homage to a genius loci. After all, Johannes Brahms had close ties to the southern Thuringian town on the Werra since his friend Hans von Bülow became director of the famous Meiningen court orchestra there in 1880. A selection of his Liebeslieder waltzes, paired with excerpts from other famous song cycles by Brahms' romantic predecessors Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Robert Schumann, promise a stimulating concert evening.
