montalbâne ensemble
Hans Henrik Wöhler | Speaker
Conny Wolter | Narrator
In Stolberg (Harz), the montalbâne ensemble takes you on a journey into the historic past when it performs music and songs from the time of the Peasants' War in the castle courtyard. In addition, actor Hans Henrik Wöhler and narrator Conny Wolter bring the texts of Thomas Müntzer and Martin Luther to life (open-air event without rain option). On the castle terrace, four brass players from the MDR Symphony Orchestra, also playing historical instruments, invite you to listen. Also included in the ticket price are short guided tours of the castle, which begin after the concert at 4.15 pm and around 5 pm. Registrations are requested in advance at tourismus@gemeinde-suedharz.de, spontaneous participation is also possible subject to availability. The meeting point is in the castle courtyard to the right of the stage. A catering service (not included) will be provided on the day to cater for small appetites.
A day in Stolberg
There is plenty to experience in Stolberg before and after the concert: You can immerse yourself in the time of Thomas Müntzer at various locations. For example, you can visit current exhibitions on the anniversary at the Alte Münze Museum or take part in the presentation of the annual medal "Peasants' War and Thomas Müntzer" on the Great Balancier. The final concert of the MDR Music Summer 2025 with the MDR Radio Choir will then take place in St. Martini's Church at 6 pm (extra ticket).
