MEDITERRANEAN NIGHT IN THE COLONNADES

Public neighborhood picnic with southern flair on Hamburg's longest summer terrace - for neighborhood, enjoyment & exchange

Location: Colonnaden between Jungfernstieg and Esplanade, Gustav-Mahler-Platz

Short description:

For one evening, the historic Colonnaden promenade will be transformed into an open-air Mediterranean piazza. In the style of a public picnic, we invite the neighborhood and interested parties to exchange ideas and get together in a Mediterranean atmosphere. With live music ranging from flamenco to opera, Mediterranean cuisine, Mediterranean plants and atmospheric decorations, we bring the magic of the Mediterranean right into the heart of Hamburg.

If you don't want to bring your own food and drinks, you can buy picnic plates on site or take a seat in one of the many outdoor restaurants. Residents and business owners can find out about current developments in the neighborhood - such as the planned Business Improvement District (BID).

Program highlights:

• Mediterranean live music: from flamenco and chansons to opera pieces.
• Culinary delights: If you want, you can bring your own baguette, cheese and wine and take a seat at the tables that have already been set. Alternatively, you can purchase picnic plates or take a seat at one of the outdoor restaurants.
• Pure Mediterranean ambience: stylish decorations with lavender, lemons, palm trees, olive trees, candles and fabric hangings.
• Meeting & information: BID info point with contact persons on site.

Background & objective:

The event is part of the funded pilot projects as part of the city's "Ideen finden Stadt - Verborgene Potentiale" program, which provides new impetus for an attractive and vibrant city centre. A total of 22 creative concepts were supported - the "Mediterranean Night" is one of them. The event is intended to strengthen the Colonnaden as a cultural meeting place, promote local retail and gastronomy and establish a new event format for exchange in the neighborhood. It is a cooperation between Stadtmanufaktur GmbH and the Colonnaden e. V. association.
