Mein Herz still in sich singet… Liederabend [Marie Maidowski & Daniel Heide]

The recital is perhaps the most intimate form of concert. It allows the audience, but also the performers, a direct encounter with text and music. A voice and a piano, a poem and the music. In just a few minutes, songs can tell exciting stories, describe complex feelings and create a wide variety of moods.

In our program, we meet people and other beings who experience love, loneliness, euphoria, fear, happiness and sadness. We tell of longing, of relationships, of the past, of nature, of beautiful and scary things.

A witch teaches an abusive man a lesson. A nun remembers a great love in her past life. A dwarf loves a queen. An old knight is left alone in his castle. A woman tells of the overwhelming encounter with her first love.

Clara and Robert Schumann, Franz Schubert, Claude Debussy, Alma Mahler and Sergei Rachmaninov (among others) give us small insights into great stories and allow us to discover the complexity of their songs.
