by Christoph Marthaler with texts by Elfriede Jelinek
Director: Christoph Marthaler
In recent seasons, Christoph Marthaler has developed two unusual evenings in the MalerSaal based on poems, letters and sketches by authors who, for various reasons, chose to retreat completely into rooms (Emily Dickinson) and towers (Friedrich Hölderlin) in order to produce the greatest literature from the smallest spaces. After "Die Sorglosschlafenden, die Frischaufgeblühten" and "Im Namen der Brise", the focus is now on rather unknown parts of the work of Austrian writer Elfriede Jelinek, who dissects the freewheeling world events from her apartments in Vienna and Munich and gives them an unmistakable voice. As things stand, it will be anything but a classical ballet. With "My Swan Lake", the preoccupation with these worldly fugitives now comes full circle in a trilogy.
