From 9 to 13 April 2025, we will be celebrating the 400th anniversary of the microscope - a groundbreaking invention that, like the telescope, revolutionized our view of the natural sciences. During our "Invisible Worlds" theme days, you will experience an exciting journey from the microcosm of life to the infinite vastness of the universe in workshops, fulldome programs, lectures and live performances.
All events for "Invisible worlds: From the Microcosm to the Universe" can be found here.
Who or what is the "I" actually? At the latest when children start to find their parents funny, they ask themselves who they are, what makes them who they are and who they could become. They may notice that they have the same passion for soccer as Uncle Willy, that mom's laugh sounds very similar to their own or that their eyes are the same color as dad's. So what factors determine our identity - and do we even have any influence on them?
"Wissen macht Ah!" presenter Clarissa "Clari" da Silva reads from her children's non-fiction book "Mein wunderbares Ich - Was mich ausmacht und welche Rolle die Gene dabei spielen", published by cbj Kinderbuch Verlag in 2023. In this first book on epigenetics for children, she explains in a playful way and at eye level how heredity works and that we are not only determined by our genes, but also by our environment - and even by experiences made by generations before us. Humorously, vividly and very knowledgeably, she introduces us to the new science of epigenetics and encourages us to shape our own selves. Because every "I" is a wonderful being with undreamt-of possibilities.
Inspiring, entertaining and full of creative ideas, the popular TV presenter Clari ("Wissen macht Ah!", "Sendung mit der Maus") introduces children to the connection between genes and personality development.
After the reading, there will be a Q&A session and books can be signed by the author.
