Kay Johannsen continues the journey of discovery through Mendelssohn's church music begun in 2022: In addition to the frequently performed oratorios Paulus and Elijah , there is significant music by the composer that is much less frequently heard, including the early Gloria, which lasts around 25 minutes, or the dramatic setting of the 115th Psalm. Felix composed all of the works on this evening before the age of 24: they demonstrate his rousing creative power and love of experimentation, as well as his early mastery of orchestration for a symphonic orchestra. Felix's gift for inventing cantabile lines and embedding them in an organic flow is astonishing.
