Italian doom metal alchemists MESSA will release their new album The Spin on April 11th via their new label Metal Blade Records.

Following their tenth anniversary in 2024, MESSA take another step towards legendary status with their majestic fourth album The Spin, which takes its listeners on a breathtaking journey through the vast skies of their creative imagination and through a captivating landscape of moods, twists and styles. Drawing on the band's eclectic, self-defined "Scarlet Doom" sound, The Spin rises, falls, broods, bites, comforts and destroys, while echoing with both instinctive magic and obsessive, concerted hard work. Having lit up the underground with a triptych of increasingly striking and wondrous records - Belfry (2016), Feast For Water (2018) and Close (2022) - MESSA is audibly primed for the proverbial big leagues.

Compiled with love and care, MESSA's records are palpable and the album's elevated craftsmanship is evident in its elegant architecture. MESSA wrote the album in six weeks of intense daily sessions in a 500-year-old villa near the quartet's beautiful hometown of Bassano Del Grappa (VI) in northern Italy. They set extremely high standards for the process, even as they challenged themselves to change the way they worked. "When we recorded Close in 2021, we wanted to be all together in the same room," the band explains. "This time we decided to do the exact opposite. We recorded the album in three different places and at three different times. On this record, the same musical material was heavily rearranged to create a cohesive work from start to finish. We also wanted to create the songs with as minimal a structure as possible while trying not to repeat ourselves too often. We applied a simple rule: If you hear the same thing twice, that's enough. Three times? Then it gets boring."
