Disappointed by the injustice of the state, the average citizen Michael Kohlhaas becomes radicalized, resorts to vigilante justice and violence and founds a state within a state.

With today's eyes, Heinrich von Kleist's 1810 story reads like a premonition of the angry citizen, lateral thinker and Reichsbürger scene. In Björn Kruse's production, the two Rolf Mares Prize winners Jascha Schütz and Ulrich Bähnk engage in an exciting duel.
