To write lyrics in German, to open up completely, that takes courage. Especially when the themes and emotions in the songs are more complex, often darker, than we are used to from conventional songwriters. But when you listen to the intensity with which MICHÈL VON WUSSOW's voice repeatedly overflows as he sings, you immediately sense that this is different.

Because the young songwriter from Hamburg doesn't hide behind anything in his lyrics. On the contrary, he takes the first steps towards overcoming his own trauma, sings about generational conflicts and erects musical monuments to the important people in his life. A record with sincere lyrics in every line. Hope and trauma are the two major poles. "I am a person who experienced a lot of garbage in his childhood and in the past, but who nevertheless always grew up with a lot of love," says Michèl. He released his first singles under his real name just four years ago, and since then everything has taken off at a rapid pace.

Hardly a month went by without concerts, songwriting or releases. In 2022, Olli Schulz became aware of his song Narbenherz, which Michèl had written for his mother. Thanks to the Fest & Flauschig playlist, the song reached thousands of listeners. Just a short time later, Michèl performed the song on Inas Nacht, and a few weeks later he and his band were invited to perform on some of the country's biggest stages. His first two headline tours were a complete success. The debut album Angst gegen Vertrauen is also released in the middle of this. Just over a year and a half later, the second album Traum B followed in 2024. "The lyrics on the second album are particularly different to the first - I express myself much more clearly and directly now, and I'm really proud of that," says Michèl.

The result is a forward-pushing, noisy sound that is much more indie than pop and would suit any modern UK songwriter from the suburbs of Newcastle or Manchester. The songs are always produced free of ballast and still offer numerous details.
