"Get to the offices as quickly as possible! Call on me! Get all the ration coupons you need - for building materials and all that sort of thing. I want you to be able to play theater again as soon as possible! The people should have something to laugh about again!"

With these words, Konrad Adenauer paved the way for the reopening of the Volkstheater Millowitsch in May 1945 - and thus for one of the greatest success stories of German popular theater.
80 years later, Annette Frier, Henning Krautmacher, Susanne Pätzold, Nicole Kersten, Laurenz Leky and René Michaelsen, directed by Nina Gühlstorff, bring this extraordinary chapter of Cologne theater history to the stage and approach the protagonist of the famous Rhenish theater dynasty from there.
