He is one of the most important French composers from the era of the "Sun King". In addition to music theater, it was sacred music in which Marc-Antoine Charpentier ("Eurovision Fanfare") set standards. This also applies to the Marian Mass, composed around 1700, which is one of his greatest creations - high baroque in its purest form, so to speak! Denis Comtet, who is making his debut in the choir subscription series, also presents a varied selection of French Marian music, including Marian antiphons from the heyday of vocal polyphony and exciting settings from our own day.
