Misty – The Erroll Garner Story

He was the best-selling jazz musician of his time and a frequent guest on US television shows in the 1950s and 1960s. His best-known composition Misty became a jazz standard. The music film recalls the life and melodies of Erroll Garner in atmospheric images and allows his daughter, his wife, the musicians in his trio and other companions to have their say. Although he ostensibly served the mainstream, Garner was unconventional and headstrong. In his improvisations, he elicited a rainbow of sound colors from the black and white keys. His manager Martha Glaser included a clause in his contracts to ensure that Garner's performances were not segregated. This musical portrait is the long overdue rediscovery of a jazz legend.
