Floating silently in a hot air balloon over the fairytale-like fairy chimneys of Cappadocia and watching the rising sun at dawn. This is the picture of Cappadocia - the part of Turkey that is not paved with huge all-inclusive hotel complexes, but where you spend the night in tufa caves.
Join us in this travelogue on our parental leave trip, where we traveled by train on the tracks of the old Orient Express all the way to Turkey - because as always, the journey is part of the destination. We report on how we mastered seemingly endless distances on the night train, border crossings and new cultures with a small child in tow and talk about unforgettable experiences in Cappadocia: from hiking through the breathtaking rocky landscapes and the Ihlara Gorge with its rock churches and cave constructions to the countless balloons that rise daily at dawn.
But even though Cappadocia was our main destination, we didn't miss out on other regions of Turkey: the beautiful coastline away from the package holiday hotels. "Turkey All Inclusive" reinterpreted: Historic cities and tombs, adventurous canyons and the Lycian long-distance hiking trail along mountains, forests and the sea.
In their talk, Svenja and Peter Reidelbach show that traveling with a baby is different, but definitely feasible - and can even open up completely new perspectives, as baby Paulina proves to be a real door opener to the local people. This travel talk is aimed at anyone who would like to discover Turkey as a varied and impressive travel destination - with or without a child.
