The starting point is a mechanical worker's control clock shown in the exhibition "Modern Times", a product of the Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft (AEG) in Berlin. As an exhibit, this clock for recording working hours embodies the efficiency efforts based on the American model in the industrial working world after 1900. At the same time, it stands for the beginnings of German industrial design. The AEG company, whose artistic advisor and designer from 1907 to 1914 was Peter Behrens, was part of the avant-garde in Germany. This company is represented in the ADA with a total collection of almost 180 objects as well as a partially recorded collection of printed matter.
