The world is a different place in 1929. Berlin is wild, dirty, glamorous and party-loving at the same time. The MOKA EFTI ORCHESTRA - a 14-piece ensemble led by composers Nikko Weidemann and Mario Kamien and saxophonist and arranger Sebastian Borkowski - brings the lifestyle of the 1920s back to the stage. With their rousing music, they literally invite the audience into the legendary "Moka Efti", one of the most famous entertainment palaces of 1920s Berlin and the central location of the hit series "Babylon Berlin".

Nikko Weidemann and Mario Kamien were commissioned to compose and supervise all the music for "Babylon Berlin" - from blues and piano ragtime to chansons and opulent big band numbers. Together with Sebastian Borkowski, they put together the MOKA EFTI ORCHESTRA, which has since become a permanent fixture on stages in Germany and abroad.

Now the MOKA EFTI ORCHESTRA 2025 is returning with a special program: "The Wet Fish" - a fascinating mixture of music and reading. Together with the celebrated actor Benno Fürmann - known as the complex General Wendt in "Babylon Berlin" - and the charismatic guest star Le Pustra, the ensemble once again takes the audience into the dazzling, dark world of Berlin in the late 1920s. Based on Volker Kutscher's novel "Der nasse Fisch", impressive readings and the electrifying music of the orchestra are interwoven to create an atmospheric overall experience. The idea for this extraordinary evening came from Gesa Husemann.

With every note, every word and every gesture, the MOKA EFTI ORCHESTRA brings the past to life - passionately, movingly and full of enthusiasm. A journey through time for all the senses: The music and stories of the 1920s are timeless - and more relevant than ever.

"The jazz band Moka Efti Orchestra, which was founded especially for the TV series 'Babylon Berlin', swept the audience off their seats at the guest performance in the Festspielhaus with a sound that got them moving."
