MOLASS

Music that resembles a surreal metamorphosis and combines opposites - hot and cold, cool and touching, present and past. Fairytale-like sounds from times gone by and modern neo-soul sounds merge into a "Groovy Fairytale". Visually stunning stories that laugh at their own melancholy take you on an epic journey in an earthy cloud, where polyrhythms meet whistling registers, led by a distinctive and multi-faceted voice that finds no place in a drawer.

After several years working in acting, Marissa Möller, the band's singer and songwriter, founded MOLASS together with Jan Lammert in 2017. On the keys, he expands the joint compositions with experimental rhythms and harmonies to create varied arrangements. Drummer Lambert Windges and bassist Julian Schwiebert complete the characteristic yet unique MOLASS sound inspired by soul and jazz.

The Cologne-based band released their self-produced debut album Green Sky in October 2018, which was named album of the month by Coolibri magazine. In 2019, they won the Jazz Band Challenge

Viersen and play not only at the International Jazz Festival Viersen, but also at other renowned festivals such as the Jazzrally Düsseldorf and the Musikmesse Frankfurt. In 2021, MOLASS take 2nd place at Germany's biggest jazz prize for young talent - Future Sounds at the Leverkusen Jazz Days. 2022 they release their second studio album "Piece Of Mass".
