There is a great and yet everyday secret. Everyone shares in it, everyone knows it, but very few people ever think about it. This secret is time." One day, a girl appears in the old amphitheater of an Italian town. Her name is Momo and the townspeople quickly make friends with her. Go and see Momo becomes a common saying. Because what Momo can do like no other is listen. Really listen. With all her attention and sympathy. But strange figures are creeping into the city. Gray lords are calling on people to save time and the more people doggedly do everything they can to save their time, the grayer and colder it gets around them.
Momo tries to uncover the secret of the gray lords and delves deeper and deeper into the mystery of time. Since its publication on September 1, 1973, more than twelve million people around the world have read Michael Ende's novel and the relevance of the story remains unbroken to this day. In times of higher-faster-further, is there a more appropriate theme than time and its significance for our lives?
