People have always been fascinated by the moon and the mystical, pale celestial body has inspired artists of all genres. The mysterious moon and the moonstruck Pierrot are the main protagonists in "Mondestrunken": In addition to Arnold Schönberg's "Pierrot lunaire", a prologue and three interludes conjure up the moonlit night - with music, scenes, texts, songs and poems ranging from poetically reflective to cheerfully frivolous. These include the poem "Mondesaufgang" by the writer and composer Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, Robert Schumann's floatingly beautiful "Mondnacht" and Johann Abraham Peter Schulz's famous setting of "Der Mond ist aufgegangen".
Moonstruck songs embedded in magical texts and scenes from the moon's spell.
In cooperation with the Lehmbruck Museum.
The museum opens half an hour before the concert begins.
