When Anand's father dies, he returns from the big city to his provincial home in India to perform a ten-day mourning ritual. There, his feelings for his former childhood friend Balya flare up again. He is fighting to remain unmarried, contrary to tradition. In the midst of his grief, Anand is also exposed to the inevitable questions from his extended family about his marital status. When he wants to return to the city, he has to decide the fate of the relationship.
