Morcheeba - pioneers of trip-hop and cross-genre sounds between downbeat, chillout, electro-pop and soul - are coming to Germany for selected concerts in 2025 with their new album "Escape The Chaos" . The tour will take them to Hamburg (Große Freiheit 36) on October 16, Berlin (UBER Eats Music Hall) on October 19 and Munich (Kesselhaus) on October 24. A must for all fans of the band that has been shaping the music world for 30 years!
With "Escape The Chaos", their 11th studio album, Skye Edwards (vocals) and Ross Godfrey (guitar, keyboards) once again prove their unmistakable flair for profound melodies, haunting lyrics and atmospheric sounds. The new record is a fascinating blend of electronic and organic sounds, characterized by their characteristic warmth and intimacy.
"We've had a lot of people say to us over the years that our music has changed their lives or got them through something that was really difficult or traumatic. It's a good feeling that you can help to heal people in your own small way," says Skye Edwards.
Three decades ago, the story of Morcheeba began with a chance encounter at a party in South London. Ross Godfrey, only 18 years old at the time, invited Skye Edwards to his flat share after hearing that she was singing and writing songs. What followed was a unique musical partnership that continues to this day.
The band has since sold over 10 million albums, played countless international tours and secured a permanent place in the music universe with classics such as "The Sea", "Otherwise" and "Rome Wasn't Built In A Day".
Their latest work "Escape The Chaos" was created in an intensive two-year production phase, characterized by collaborations with artists such as Oscar #Worldpeace and El Léon Pardo. The opening track "Call For Love" deals with the search for cohesion and tolerance in turbulent times and makes a strong statement with its profound lyrics.
"Call For Love is very grounding, musically and emotionally. The world is so confusing and complicated these days. An apocalypse is always on the horizon, both personal and global. It is comforting to take refuge in music and love with those close to us," says Ross Godfrey about the meaning of the song.
The album closes with the title track "Escape The Chaos", which also conveys its central message. Ross Godfrey describes the meaning behind it as follows: "This whole record is a process of trying to reconnect with what really matters, whether it's what's in your heart or with the world, putting your feet on grass and feeling the earth beneath you. It's about not being distracted by all the bullshit." Skye Edwards adds: "The song Escape The Chaos is about being able to press play and switch off. I love being able to do that with music. It can be a bit of therapy. It won't bring about world peace, but it can bring about inner peace and calm."
Even after 30 years of band history, Morcheeba remains a musical constant that brings peace and depth to the music world with its unique blend of trip-hop, soul and electronic elements - and can be experienced live on stage again in 2025.
