Event as part of the exhibition of the Moving Kitchen project - A kitchen for everyone

We meet in our self-built kitchen and conjure up bruschetta and skewers together. The best snack will be chosen - and perhaps also the most creative! An evening for chopping, snacking and having fun.

The project:

How should the kitchen of the future be designed? How can it meet today's requirements for functionality, design and living quality and at the same time function as a social, democratic space? These are the questions addressed by the interdisciplinary Moving Kitchen project at Mainz University of Applied Sciences. Students of architecture and interior design jointly developed the idea of the "Mainz Kitchen": a modern, changeable space as the social center of living. In the summer semester of 2025, the course developed initial designs in several project phases, from which a concept was selected in a democratic process. In the subsequent realization phase, a 1:1 prototype was created, which was tested in everyday scenarios with various user groups.

The prototype and the entire planning and development process can be experienced interactively from July 18, 2025 at the Rhineland-Palatinate Center for Building Culture. Mainz University of Applied Sciences cordially invites you to interact.
