MUDHONEY

Mudhoney: The eternal shadow child of the Seattle scene? Pioneers in flannel shirts and almost fatherly inspiration for later superstars of the Nirvana brand. And as usual, they also share the fate of a trend-setting band that never made the leap out of the underground waters and only benefited to a limited extent from their pioneering role, even in the greatest hype times.
It is doubtful whether Mudhoney wanted the big fame at all. The veterans are far too rooted in their punk rock lifestyle and, as singer Mark Arm himself admits, far too unmotivated. And rightly so. Mark McLaughlin's first band (later under the pseudonym Mark Arm), Mr. Epp and The Calculations, quickly made a name for themselves in Seattle in the early eighties as the worst band in the world.
