Once again, Munich Rocks! at the Muffatwerk presents Munich bands that have attracted attention for their skills and individuality. Since March 13, 2009, talents from Munich and the surrounding area have been taking the microphone here and regularly confirming to a full house that the local music scene has many musical facets and great potential to offer!

Paul Kowol
Whether urban or folky, Paul Kowol's pop songs leave no one cold. Once you've heard them, you just can't get them out of your head. It doesn't matter whether they are performed with electronic support or just solo on acoustic guitar. His soulful German lyrics invite you to reflect as well as smile, and some of them even invite you to dance and sing along. In 2017, at just 20 years old, Paul first attracted attention when he was named "Munich Band of the Year". A few weeks later, he played a support show for Adel Tawil at the sold-out Tollwood Music Arena. This was followed by various appearances as the support act for Sportfreunde Stiller when they went on a club tour after their comeback, as well as a coronavirus-related open air tour in summer 2021 as a special guest of Culcha Candela, with whom he also released his song "Somma". His performance at the campsite of the canceled 2022 PULS Open Air, which went viral on TikTok, and a few days later, when he opened the evening for his friends from Culcha Candela and Silbermond in front of thousands of people at the "Münchner Sommernachtstraum", were also legendary. Last but not least, Paul was in the "official" line-up of PULS and SUPERBLOOM in 2023 and supported Christina Stürmer in 2024 as part of her MTV Unplugged Tour in the sold-out Pavillon in Hanover, where he was also allowed to perform her hit "Seite an Seite" together with Christina as a feature artist.

Pew Pew Alice
Pew Pew Alice. This is hip-hop with brass sections, rap with synthesizer twitter, guitar plucking with accordion rattling. They don't know exactly who Alice is themselves, but the Munich-based band know their way around Pew Pew. Their funky rhythms will get your knees pumping and your hips moving! At a jam session in 2022, the expanded Tororo Jazz Connection with rapper Peter Potpüree manifests the symbiosis of rap and real instruments. The 7-piece band was then voted Munich's Act of the Year in 2024. However, their rousing sound is also well received across the region, can fully unfold live and is based on the motto: The main thing is that it sounds good! If their songs are to be believed, the boys fall in love with philistines, are hypersensitive to coffee consumption and mix up proverbs more often than their underpants. The humorous lyrics paired with electrifying synth sounds and sexy sax lines complete this ecstasy.

Capones
Allow me: The Capones circus is in town to party with you with drums and trumpets! Disco, pop and funk beats mix with Latin, ska and reggae rhythms, influences from hip hop and modern drum sounds, Afrobeats and synthesizers. The CAPONES can now look back on an eventful band history. Founded in 2003, the band quickly played their way into the hearts of their fans on stages all over Germany. In 2004, they released their debut album "Rhythm Elixir", which - in the truest sense of the word - went like hot cakes. The stages quickly got bigger and the CAPONES found themselves playing concerts and festivals with bands such as Babylon Circus, Blumentopf, Clueso, Culcha Candela, Deichkind, Juli and 2Raumwohnung. The second album "Mistico Capital" is released in 2006. The album plays mainly through the world of Latin American rhythms and includes a feature with Johnny Strange from Culcha Candela. The third studio album "ONE" was finally released in 2010, with electronic sounds gaining influence. Nevertheless, 2011 is the end (for now) - after over 250 concerts throughout Europe, the CAPONES give their acclaimed farewell concert in the sold-out Muffathalle in Munich: "And we're out. No replay" was the motto at the time... But what do we care about yesterday's gossip? You should dance! The Munich power boys have been back on tour since 2017! Live, the CAPONES have a danceable mix of new sounds & old-time classics in their luggage and throw themselves onto the boards that mean the world. There are new releases for 2024 that play their way through the world of funk, pop, rock and reggae - CAPONES style, with no limits: "Shake your rump to the funk & let the good times role!"
