The world percussionist Murat Coşkun has won this year's Reinhold Schneider Prize, the cultural prize of the city of Freiburg in the music category! Congratulations to him!

The jury, led by First Mayor Ulrich von Kirchbach, honored the musician and founder of the Tamburi Mundi Festival for his "extensive and sensitive commitment as a bridge builder between cultures and genres".

The Turkish-born drummer was practically born to build bridges, as from the very beginning it was important to understand, mediate and explain a world in which two cultures are lived and felt. And so Murat Coşkun "opens the doors to world music in an approachable, unpretentious and empathetic way and strengthens the appreciation of different origins and artistic traditions".

Murat Coşkun would like to celebrate this award together with you and has put together a program that reflects the broad spectrum of his musical work:

Sometimes as a soloist with his frame drums, then with the current project Tales of Souls with Beatriz Picas (cello and vocals) and as a duo with the sensitive Persian lutenist Negar Bouban. His family project Coşkun Percussion Trio (with Malika and Yaschar Coşkun), which will be joined by percussion reinforcement Max Gerwien (Popakademie Mannheim), will not be missing, nor will his long-time fellow musician Annette Maye (clarinets), with whom he founded the ensemble FisFüz in Freiburg almost 30 years ago. The musicians of the Camerata String Quartet and the Freiburg Accordion Orchestra will also be on stage. Thanks to the kind support of the Freiburg Department of Culture, they will all join forces to make this evening a unique and one-of-a-kind concert experience to celebrate with a very special musician.
