Music at the Buschkrug - open-air music from all over the world in the middle of Neukölln

The vacation month of August is all about international music in the Park am Buschkrug in Neukölln-Britz. On three Friday afternoons, the audience can look forward to a varied concert program that presents musical styles ranging from reggae, blues, rap, world music and ska to Balkan beats, Turkish folk and traditional music from West Africa. The special feature of this program is the exciting combination of traditional music styles with contemporary electro and street sounds, which promise unique and unforgettable listening experiences. The program is complemented by a drumming course and a rapper performance that emerged from a workshop with young refugees and the Feuerwache youth club. Free admission means that everyone is welcome to embark on a musical journey around the world and shake a leg.

Angela Ordu & Free Spiritz (15.8.) is a new multicultural all-female band founded by the Nigerian-German singer Angela Ordu. Their compositions combine different musical styles to create a groovy, rousing sound that invites you to swing along.

The music of La Caravane du Maghreb (15.8.) transports you to the sounds of Morocco and Algeria with its Arabic lyrics. Using both traditional musical instruments and synthesizers, the band harmoniously combines the culturally rooted repertoire with contemporary electro, pop and dance sounds.

Drum Kitchen Berlin (15.8.) is a percussion ensemble that brings powerful rhythms and melodies to the streets and festival stages. Their rich musical menu ranges from Caribbean groove to Cuban comparsa and Brazilian afro-samba.

The music duo PAYE (22.8.) combines traditional Anatolian sounds with modern electronic rhythms. Singing and playing the side instrument saz, keyboards and synthesizers create a unique soundscape that combines cultural roots with contemporary influences.

Bakshish Brass Band (22.8.) is an energetic brass ensemble from Berlin that creates a rousing mix of Balkan brass, klezmer and dance music. With their unmistakable groove, they bring an Eastern European festival atmosphere to the city's stages.

The Berlin band Cosmonautix "unplugged" (22.8.) has been shaking up the music scene since 2006 with their unique style called "Rocket Balalaika Speedfolk". With the lively combination of Eastern European melodies and modern genres such as ska, cumbia and rock'n'roll, the band is guaranteed to get you dancing in an unplugged formation.

Yoro M'Baye's (29.8.) music is deeply rooted in West African tradition, especially in the rhythms of the Senegalese percussion instrument Sabar. The musician masters various drums and teaches drumming and dance courses for all age groups. He plays with his band in the Park am Buschkrug and also offers an open drumming workshop for anyone interested.

The Berlin association Rapper* ohne Grenzen e.V.* ( 29.8.) uses rap music as a creative tool to promote the language skills and integration of young refugees and migrants. Rapper Kompass MC is an experienced artist who is involved as a rap coach and passes on his passion to children and young people by inspiring them to discover their own voice. He performs together with young people from the Feuerwache youth club and from the surrounding refugee shelters, who playfully break new ground in a foreign language.
